Chapter 522 - 519: A Clean Sweep
To trap tens of thousands of people in an illusion at once.
With Mo Qi’s current strength, he was incapable of creating an Illusion Array this powerful, especially since almost half of those tens of thousands were Immortal Level experts.
But as luck would have it, the Desperate Mountain Range was already full of arrays meant to guard Treasures, all of them personally set up by Elder Ku Mu.
Mo Qi couldn’t create his own arrays from scratch, but he could modify existing ones.
Just as he had done when dealing with the Abyssal Demons in the valley, Mo Qi had used the foundations of the arrays already present, secretly linking them together to form one massive array.
Furthermore, the Immortals had no idea what was happening. Fearing Elder Ku Mu’s rules, they didn’t dare to use cultivation surpassing the Void Realm. That was why they remained unable to escape the Illusion Array.
"Another array! When did Master set this up?" Xiao Zhang was both in awe and bewildered.
Back in the valley, he had been too far away to see Mo Qi’s every move. So when the Illusion Array appeared and saved everyone, Xiao Zhang hadn’t thought too much about it.
But this time, his attention had been fixed on Mo Qi from start to finish. He hadn’t seen him make a single move, not even a strange gesture.
’So where did this array come from?’
The expressions of the Demon Sect experts, who had been so dismissive of Mo Qi, all changed drastically.
Before the array had revealed its power, they hadn’t noticed anything unusual either.
In other words, if Mo Qi had wanted to act against them, their fate would be no better than that of those currently trapped in the Illusion Realm.
In that moment, Mo Qi was no longer just an ordinary Vajra Realm Cultivator in their eyes. He had become profoundly mysterious.
"Master, are you going to kill them? Wipe them all out in one go?" Xiao Zhang licked his lips, looking extremely excited.
He’d long been annoyed by this group of hypocrites from the North District Envoy Hall.
If Mo Qi gave the order, he wouldn’t mind acting as the executioner.
Mo Qi slapped the back of Xiao Zhang’s head. "All you think about is kill, kill, kill. Can’t you be a bit more ambitious? I told you to watch and learn from the side. Can’t you focus?"
Mo Qi had no intention of going on a killing spree. Doing so would make a mortal enemy of an entire district’s Hall of Envoys.
He just wanted to maximize the benefits he could reap from the situation.
The slap dazed Xiao Zhang, but instead of getting angry, he just grinned apologetically. "Yes, yes, yes! This disciple will definitely study hard, talk less, do more, and make you proud."
Mo Qi glanced at Xiao Zhang without another word. He felt the guy was a lot like Qian Duoduo, but even more cringey and dramatic.
’If those two ever meet, they’ll become the best of friends.’
Meanwhile, within the Illusion Array, some of the Immortals finally realized what was going on after endless rounds of fighting and killing.
"Dammit, this is an Illusion Array!"
"What a disgrace! We were played by that kid!"
"But then again, when did he set up the array? How did we not feel a thing?"
Realizing they were in an Illusion Array, the Immortals grew increasingly impatient and lost their will to fight the charging Abyssal Demons.
They knew these things were fake and endless.
Everything they were doing was pointless—a waste of time and energy.
If they stopped suppressing their cultivation, an Illusion Array of this level was nothing to them. The mere release of their Immortal Level pressure could destroy it.
But the problem was, this was still the territory of the Desperate Mountain Range. They couldn’t be sure if unleashing Immortal Level Cultivation against the array would count as breaking Elder Ku Mu’s rules.
If it did, then unleashing their full cultivation would be suicide.
But if they didn’t, they couldn’t break free of the Illusion Realm with their current Void Realm strength.
’Are we going to be trapped here forever?’
Just as the Immortals were agonizing over their decision, a few Void Realm cultivators were the first to lose their patience.
They hadn’t identified it as an Illusion Array and thought they had fallen into Mo Qi’s trap, thrown into some unknown Demon Cave.
After several waves of Abyssal Demons, they stopped suppressing their cultivation and unleashed the power of the Void Realm.
In that same instant, a giant hand appeared out of thin air, ignoring the Illusion Array, and crushed those few Void Realm cultivators on the spot.
The appearance of the giant hand briefly interfered with the Illusion Array, allowing everyone inside to momentarily break free from the hallucination.
Everyone saw those Void Realm cultivators being annihilated. A deathly silence fell over them as they desperately suppressed their cultivation, terrified of accidentally breaking the rules.
Mo Qi smiled faintly at this. Why had he dared to face so many Immortals alone?
Besides the array he had prepared, his greatest source of confidence was the rule set by Elder Ku Mu.
No matter how powerful you were, as long as you were in the Desperate Mountain Range, you could only obediently use cultivation below the Void Realm.
"Kid, you dare to screw with us? You’re courting death!"
The Immortals were furious. Just as they were about to attack, the Illusion Array returned to normal, and they were once again trapped in the illusion.
"Dammit!"
Facing the endless stream of Abyssal Demons, they could only swallow their anger and focus on defending themselves.
The Illusion Array brought more than just hallucinations. If they were injured by these Abyssal Demons, their physical bodies might be fine, but their souls would suffer an equivalent amount of damage.
So, even knowing it was an illusion, they didn’t dare to let their guard down.
"It seems you all still have plenty of energy. In that case, enjoy yourselves for a while."
Mo Qi walked through the crowd, grabbed Qin Xueyun—who was also trapped in the illusion—and threw her to the ground.
In Qin Xueyun’s perception, she had been seized by an incredibly powerful Abyssal Demon.
She struggled and screamed desperately, but it was useless.
Just as she thought she was about to be torn in half and devoured, her vision suddenly cleared. All the Abyssal Demons vanished, and standing before her were Mo Qi and the members of the Demon Sect.
"Wh-what are you going to do?" Qin Xueyun looked at Mo Qi in terror, scrambling to hide behind a large tree.
Mo Qi’s expression was cold.
After the incident with Fang Min, there were two things he hated most: one was betrayal, and the other was harm coming to those close to him.
And Qin Xueyun had done both.
He had saved her life from He Jinbo, but not only was she ungrateful, she had also revealed his whereabouts.
Because of that, Gu Peng was implicated and severely injured, his Dantian destroyed.
How could Mo Qi possibly let her go?
"You will have the honor of being the fourth person to enjoy this treatment." The Obsidian Kitchen Knife appeared in Mo Qi’s hand.
Towards traitors, Mo Qi had only one policy: flay them to the bone, a fate worse than death!
Although Qin Xueyun didn’t know what "treatment" Mo Qi was talking about, she knew it was nothing good.
She shrieked in terror, "Stay away! I’m from the Qin Family! If you dare kill me, our Ancestor will not spare you!"
Mo Qi couldn’t be bothered to waste words on Qin Xueyun. He raised the knife, ready to swing it down.
"Brother Mo, wait!"
A weak voice called out, and Mo Qi’s downward swing froze in mid-air.
"Cough, cough... Brother Mo, please, for my sake, spare her life." Not far away, the heavily injured Gu Peng pushed himself up, blood constantly spilling from his mouth.
