Endless Ocean: Survival Begins with a Dugout Canoe

Chapter 428 - 417: The Key to Unlocking the God’s Legacy

Shi Ming ran his fingers over the intricate characters on the Rune’s surface. Through the Eye of Destiny, he gained a general understanding of this so-called "super treasure that would shock the universe," this "token of the Royal Family."

Simply put, it was a symbol of authority, of status.

It was also the only key in existence.

A key that could unlock the legacy of a god.

The First Civilization Cosmic Country had fallen into silent extinction along with its inhabitants following the demise of its god. This was likely tied to some unknown secrets. For instance, a race descended from a powerful being would be bound to that being’s fate—they would flourish together and perish together. However, the civilization’s countless treasures and foundations had become truly masterless, with no one left to inherit them.

Shi Ming had learned earlier from Rui Liang’s legacy that only the highest-level civilizations could establish vast Cosmic Countries.

To be called the "First Civilization Cosmic Country" undoubtedly meant its foundations were terrifyingly profound, far beyond anything the Dark Star Race could compare to.

Shi Ming felt the Rune in his hand grow heavier.

Indeed,

its appearance

was enough to shock the universe.

And that probably wasn’t all. If other powerful beings learned that the key to the First Civilization Cosmic Country’s legacy had fallen into Shi Ming’s hands, they would likely stop at nothing to seize it. Even if Shi Ming hadn’t been involved, the Seven-Eyed Race who had obtained it, and even the entire Unfastened Boat Star Realm, would not have escaped the fate of annihilation.

The legacy of a god was enough to drive any being to madness.

Fortunately, his actions had been foolproof.

Every being who witnessed the Rune’s appearance had been annihilated. Even the opportunistic members of the Blazing Race hiding in the shadows had been rooted out by him. Finally, he had even performed a grand cleansing with the Touch of Extreme Evil. When he left, he did so disguised as Rui Liang of the Dark Star Race, a transformation accomplished using the Ten Thousand Forms Sanctuary.

As a newcomer who had just set foot in the Star Sea,

he couldn’t be too conspicuous, even if he held bug-level trump cards like [Bore] and the Eye of the Divine.

WHOOSH—

He stored the precious Rune in his foolproof personal inventory, preserving it with great care.

For now, he did not have it acknowledge him as its master.

Outside the territory of the First Cosmic Country, there was no benefit to making the Rune acknowledge him. In fact, it might increase the risk of exposure. Shi Ming’s plan was to wait until he was near the First Cosmic Country’s territory—what was now known as the Tomb Star Realm—before claiming ownership. By then, even if other beings coveted it, grew green with envy, or became hysterical, they wouldn’t be able to follow him into the Tomb Star Realm...

Until then, leaving it in his personal inventory was the safest option.

’I just left Earth through a Wormhole, and I’ve already gone through something this intense.’

’What I need to do now,’

’is determine my current coordinates.’

’I remember the Nirvana’s navigation log seemed to mention the Tomb Star System, but only in passing, without much detail. I don’t know how far the Unfastened Boat Star Realm is from the Tomb Star Realm.’

He slightly regretted not leaving a member of the Seven-Eyed Race alive for a "friendly chat" to get specific information about this Star Domain. But it didn’t matter. Wise Chahar’s personal Storage Pyramid contained quite a few books and records. Besides, an Earth Day was about to pass, after which he could use the Eye of Destiny to obtain more accurate information. As far as he knew, there was another race in this Star Domain called the Blazing Race. They would soon discover that their old rivals had been completely wiped out and would surely take some action.

Shi Ming’s body turned the blue of a Ten Thousand Forms Kun,

then shifted into a member of the Blazing People, then a member of the Seven-Eyed Race, and finally into Rui Liang of the Dark Star Race. The Ten Thousand Forms Sanctuary was surprisingly useful in the Star Sea. It was a 1:1 copy; even Ah Jian or he himself would have a hard time spotting any difference. As long as he didn’t reveal any discrepancies or gaps in personality and memory, it would be difficult for any being to tell from his appearance.

Disguised as Rui Liang, Shi Ming walked out onto the vast, empty deck.

In his hand was the *Star Sea Navigation Log*, personally written by Rui Liang.

He had inherited Rui Liang’s treasures and foundations, and he had no intention of letting Rui Liang’s name go to waste either... ’Rui Liang probably wouldn’t mind,’ he mused, ’if the Dark Star Race’s "reputation" became even more notorious throughout the cosmos!’

...

...

...

On a colossal, blazing planet that seemed to be perpetually burning, there were molten caves carved out by fire. Within these caves were the dwellings of the Blazing People.

In the largest, most revered of these molten caves, the flames were seven-colored.

This was the residence of the Blazing Race’s leader, the Blazing King.

"Chief! Blazing Flame, Blazing Star, and Blazing Soul—the ones who infiltrated the Seven-Eyed Race—have all lost contact..."

"What!?"

A massive, seven-colored flame giant rose from the burning throne.

For this espionage mission, the Blazing King had specifically dispatched three of his race’s elites. Two were at the Holy Hall level, and while the third had not yet reached that level, he was proficient in Spatial Ability. This 2+1 lineup had a high probability of succeeding in a critical assassination or theft. Even if they failed, they should have been able to escape. For all of them to have lost contact... what that implied was self-evident.

It was highly likely they had all perished.

That was equivalent to half the Blazing Race’s total combat strength!

"What about Blazing Eyes?"

Blazing Eyes was the Blazing Race’s spy embedded within the Seven-Eyed Race.

He was a member of the Seven-Eyed Race by birth but had betrayed his people for profit in his youth. Cultivated by the Blazing King since childhood, he became their mole and was even granted the "Blazing" surname. In essence, his body was in one camp, but his heart was in another.

"Blazing Eyes did not take part in the ritual, but we are still in contact with him."

"Wait. Send Chi Xu to conduct a covert patrol."
