Chapter 192: A Moment Under the Sky-Sea [R18]
Lin Tian sat at the edge of the canopy apex, his legs dangling over the void, watching the colors bleed across the horizon as the sun sank below the Sky-Sea.
The clouds below them stretched endlessly in every direction, painted in shades of amber and violet and deep, bruised crimson. Above them, the true stars were beginning to emerge, one by one, piercing the velvet dark of the upper atmosphere.
He had never seen anything like this before. Not in his old life as a cripple, staring at the same four walls of the Lin estate. Not even in the months since the System had awakened, fighting through the Rift, climbing the Heart-Tree.
The world was vast, and he had barely scratched its surface.
Behind him, the sounds of quiet conversation drifted from the camp they had set up on the broadest branch. Su Lan was tending to the fire, her flames dancing obediently at her command.
Yue Chan had woven a canopy of silk overhead, creating a sheltered space that caught the warmth and held it close. Yan Jiao was cracking open a gourd of something that smelled like fermented honey, and Lu Cang sat a little apart, polishing the spearhead Lin Tian had forged for him.
Linle stood at the edge of the branch, her hand resting against the bark of the Heart-Tree, her eyes closed, her lips moving silently.
She was saying goodbye.
Not permanently. The bond that connected her to the forest would never fully break. But she was acknowledging that her place was no longer here alone. That she had chosen to follow him into the unknown.
Lin Tian understood that kind of goodbye. He had said one himself, leaving the Lin Clan behind.
Xueya sat down beside him, close enough that her shoulder pressed against his. She didn’t say anything at first. She just looked out at the same sky, her breath slow and even, her presence a quiet comfort.
"It’s beautiful," she said finally.
"It is."
"Hard to believe we’re going to leave this place tomorrow. Dive into something dark and cold and full of monsters."
Lin Tian let out a small laugh. "When you put it that way, it sounds almost like a vacation."
She elbowed him, but there was no force behind it. "I’m trying to have a moment here."
"You’re having one," he said. "I’m just sitting in it with you."
She turned to look at him, and in the fading light, her eyes held a softness he rarely got to see. The Ice Fairy of the Azure Snow Sect. The untouchable genius. The woman who had chosen him when everyone else had written him off.
"Thank you," she said.
"For what?"
"For not giving up on me. For not letting me freeze to death. For... everything."
Lin Tian reached out and took her hand. "You saved me first, remember? You refused to break the engagement. You held my hand in front of everyone and told them I was worth something. I’m just returning the favor."
She leaned her head against his shoulder, and they sat like that for a long moment, watching the stars grow brighter, feeling the wind carry the scent of leaves and distant rain.

Su Lan’s voice broke the quiet. "Food’s ready. And Yan Jiao is threatening to drink the entire gourd by herself if no one else joins her."
"She would too," Yan Jiao called back. "I’ve done it before. Ask anyone in Iron Hammer City."
Lin Tian got to his feet and helped Xueya up. They walked back to the camp together, his arm around her waist, her hand resting on his chest.
The fire crackled warmly. Yue Chan had arranged the silk canopy into something that resembled a pavilion, open to the sky on one side, sheltered from the wind on the others. Cushions made from woven vines and soft moss were scattered across the branch.
It was comfortable. Intimate. Safe.
Lu Cang stood and stretched. "I’m going to take first watch. Give you all some privacy."
Lin Tian opened his mouth to protest, but Lu Cang held up a hand.
"Brother. I’ve been traveling with five beautiful women and one very lucky man for weeks now. I know when I’m not needed." He grinned. "And besides, someone should make sure the Void Twins don’t sneak back."
He walked to the edge of the branch and settled into a cross-legged position, his spear across his knees, his back to them.
Lin Tian shook his head, but he was smiling.

The meal was simple but good. Roasted meat from a beast they had killed on the climb. Wild herbs that Linle had gathered. Bread that Su Lan had somehow kept fresh in her storage ring. And Yan Jiao’s fermented honey drink, which was stronger than it had any right to be.
They talked. They laughed. They shared stories of their lives before all of this.
Yue Chan spoke of the Golden Silkworn Sect, of the silences that had stretched for years. Yan Jiao described the heat of the forge and the weight of the hammer. Linle admitted she had never left the forest before, that the world beyond the canopy had always seemed like a legend to her.
And then, as the fire burned low and the stars wheeled overhead, the conversation softened.
Xueya stood and walked around the fire to where Linle sat. She extended her hand.
"Walk with me."
Linle looked up at her, startled. She glanced at Lin Tian, who shrugged, equally confused.
The two women walked to the edge of the branch, far enough that their voices wouldn’t carry back to the fire.
Lin Tian watched them. Su Lan moved closer to him, her hand finding his knee.
"First wife business," Su Lan murmured, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"First wife?"
"Xueya. She was first. That means she gets to formally welcome the new ones." Su Lan’s eyes glinted. "I got mine already. In the geothermal vents, remember?"
Lin Tian coughed.
After a few minutes, Xueya and Linle returned. Linle’s eyes were red, but she was smiling. Xueya looked satisfied, her arm linked with Linle’s.
"She’s one of us now," Xueya said simply. "Officially."
Linle looked at Lin Tian, her expression vulnerable and open. "I... I didn’t expect to feel so accepted. The forest was my whole world. I thought leaving it would mean losing part of myself. But she made me understand that I’m not losing anything. I’m just adding more."
Lin Tian stood and walked to her. He took her face in his hands and kissed her forehead.
"You’re not losing anything," he said. "None of you are. We’re building something together. All of us."
The night deepened.
The fire burned low, casting long shadows across the silk canopy. One by one, the women shed their outer robes, the practical layers they had worn through the battle, the climb, the journey.
Lin Tian sat with his back against the Heart-Tree’s trunk, watching them.
Xueya came to him first, settling into his lap, her arms wrapping around his neck. She kissed him slowly, deeply, her lips warm against his, her body pressing close.
Su Lan joined them from the left, her hand sliding up his chest, her mouth finding his throat. Yue Chan approached from the right, her fingers threading through his hair, her breath soft against his ear.
Yan Jiao hesitated at the edge of the canopy, her confidence from the forge giving way to something shyer. But Lin Tian reached out his hand to her, and she took it, letting him draw her down beside him.
And Linle, the newest among them, the one who had spent her entire life alone in the forest, knelt at his feet and looked up at him with wide, trusting eyes.
"I don’t know what to do," she whispered. "I’ve never..."
"Neither did I, the first time," Lin Tian said gently. "Just follow what feels right. We’ll guide you."
****
The silk canopy closed around them, sealing out the wind, the cold, the rest of the world.
What happened beneath it was slow, and tender, and full of whispered affirmations. Hands explored, lips traced, bodies moved together in rhythms that had nothing to do with battle and everything to do with trust.
Xueya took the lead, her experience showing in the way she guided Linle through the first moments of intimacy, her hands gentle, her voice soft. Su Lan provided the heat, her fire-touched skin warming them all as the night grew cold. Yue Chan wove her silk into something that bound them together, literally and metaphorically, strands of golden thread connecting wrist to wrist, ankle to ankle. Yan Jiao’s strength became tenderness, her forge-calloused hands surprisingly gentle as she held Linle through her first trembling release.
And Lin Tian, at the center of them all, felt the bonds between them glow like embers, feeding back into the Link Pentagon, stabilizing, strengthening.
Each touch was an affirmation. Each kiss a promise. Each shared breath a thread woven into the tapestry of something larger than any one of them.
Afterward, they lay tangled together beneath the silk canopy, five women and one man, their breathing slow and synchronized.
Lin Tian stared up at the stars visible through the gap in the canopy. His body was warm, his mind quiet, his heart full.
Then the System pulsed.
Bond Strength Update:
Xueya — 98%
Su Lan — 96%
Yue Chan — 94%
Yan Jiao — 91%
Linle — 88%
Link Pentagon: Fully Stabilized.
All bonds within optimal range.
Progenitor Fragment synergy increased by 15%.
Next Fragment assimilation estimated at 40% efficiency gain.
Good. The bonds were solid. The foundation was strong.
Lin Tian turned his head, looking past the curve of the branch, past the edge of the canopy, toward the southern horizon.
The Sky-Sea gleamed faintly in the starlight, a vast expanse of cloud and light that stretched to the edge of the world.
And beyond it, barely visible, a sliver of blue.
Not sky. Water.
The Abyssal Ocean.
Lin Tian’s eyes narrowed. Something tickled at the edge of his awareness, a faint pulse through the ambient qi of the world.
A candidate. Somewhere in that ocean, right now, someone with the potential to bond was dying.
He could feel it. A thread of life energy, flickering, fading.
Hold on, he thought. I’m coming.
He didn’t say it aloud. Not yet. Tomorrow, he would tell them. Tomorrow, they would open the gate and descend into the depths.
Tonight, he let himself rest.
The stars wheeled overhead. The women slept peacefully around him. And Lin Tian, the cripple who had become something more, closed his eyes and let the warmth of his bonds carry him into sleep.
