Live Strong in the Wilderness

Chapter 670 - 658: Level 10 Fierce Beasts Acting as a Group

Xu Yi noted down the three Fierce Beast Rats and then said, "You go train, leave this to me."

"Okay." Lu Ke nodded, then sat cross-legged on the Meditation Mattress and started cultivating.

Just like Xu Yi, she was cultivating the "Supreme Profound Scripture," allowing her to quickly enter the training state.

Xu Yi began staring at the screen; to him, these Fierce Beast Rats seemed like insatiable monsters.

Their bodies were not very large, but they had already devoured 6 level-9 Fierce Beasts.

It’s worth knowing that these peak level-9 Fierce Beasts are slightly larger than reindeer, and considering they’ve eaten so many, these 21 Fierce Beast Rats should be full by now.

Unfortunately, they weren’t. They were still attacking the 7th level-9 Fierce Beast.

As observed by Lu Ke, the initial attackers were those 3 Fierce Beast Rats. When the level-9 Fierce Beast was dying, the remaining rats swarmed over to gnaw on it.

After devouring, the Fierce Beast Rats stayed in place and did not continue attacking other level-9 Fierce Beasts.

In other words, they seemed to be full.

Their appetite was quite astonishing.

It’s unclear how often they eat; if the intervals are short, the 10 Fierce Beasts might face a shortage risk.

However, this was not Xu Yi’s concern.

He was worried about whether he and Lu Ke would be attacked when entering the territory of the level-10 Fierce Beasts.

How should they respond if attacked?

If there were only three level-10 Fierce Beasts, with others being peak level-9, Xu Yi wouldn’t be very worried.

Once he and Lu Ke advanced to peak level-9 and entered, combining their martial techniques, they wouldn’t have much trouble handling three.

But if the other Fierce Beast Rats were also level-10, entering even after reaching level-10 would result in injuries or even death.

After lingering for a moment, the Fierce Beast Rats left.

They ventured deep into the Foggy Area, with the aircraft following them inside.

Only thermal imaging cameras could capture the Fierce Beast Rats; specific images were unattainable.

Thankfully, there were these infrared tracking lenses; otherwise, once they entered the Foggy Area, they’d be untraceable.

Xu Yi discovered that upon reaching a location, they halted.

Soon, they vanished from the lenses.

If not mistaken, Xu Yi presumed they returned to their nest.

The soil insulated the heat, rendering filming impossible.

The situation troubled Xu Yi.

Were these Fierce Beast Rats present only in this area, or scattered along the entire boundary line?

Consequently, Xu Yi deployed other aircraft to explore different regions.

These aircraft were linked to Xu Yi’s Hongyan Satellite, meaning their flight range was limited only by power, with signals receivable regardless of distance.

Thus, Xu Yi could ascertain whether these Fierce Beast Rats were omnipresent.

If they were ubiquitous, Xu Yi considered it a significant issue.

A collective purge of these Fierce Beast Rats might be necessary.

Given their collective activity, the threat was enormous.

Typically, level-6 Fierce Beasts and beyond lead solitary lives. Now imagine twenty-some level-10 Fierce Beasts acting together?

This posed a massive threat to other species.

Therefore, Xu Yi felt that if they had the strength, they should definitely purge or even eradicate these Fierce Beasts.

This kind of situation should solely occur among humans.

When it appeared among other Fierce Beasts, it threatened humanity.

If their numbers reached a certain level, they could likely evolve high intelligence and develop their civilization.

Humanity became the Overlord of the food chain due to strong group consciousness.

Had other Fierce Beasts been like humans, humanity would have likely been eradicated already.

In terms of individual strength, humans are relatively weaker compared to other carnivorous animals.

Four hours swiftly passed.

Lu Ke ended her cultivation and opened her eyes.

"How are things? Have they left the level-10 Fierce Beast’s territory?" Lu Ke asked with some concern, since it also related to her and Xu Yi’s safety.

"No, they returned to their nest. In addition, I’ve deployed 10 UAVs to scout in different directions to see if these Fierce Beast Rats are confined to this area or if they exist elsewhere too."

Hearing Xu Yi’s response, Lu Ke nodded.

"The transmission range of these UAV signals should only be 5 kilometers, so should we start moving our camp?" Lu Ke asked.

Xu Yi shook his head and said, "No need, their signals will be transmitted to the satellite and then back to us."

After all, Xu Yi had launched another Hongyan Satellite to hover right above them.

This way, the signals would not be interrupted.

This Hongyan Satellite could operate both in outer space and within the atmosphere without issues.

With the support of the Hongyan Satellite, these 10 UAVs would transmit real-time footage back.

"Do we really have such advanced equipment?" Lu Ke asked incredulously.

"Yes, it’s the crystallization of all mankind’s technology, and there are only two of them currently." Xu Yi attributed the satellite to humanity, as Lu Ke wouldn’t verify it anyway.

Merely knowing about such a satellite was sufficient.

"That’s great then. In the future, we could easily know the situation in unknown areas, right?" LuKe said happily, genuinely believing that technology could change life and lifestyles.

Now even cultivation could integrate with high-tech.

"It’s not that simple. Once Ferocious Beasts spot the UAVs, they can easily shoot them down." Xu Yi said helplessly. "I sent out 10 drones an hour ago, and only 8 remain now."

If humans possessed Spirit Race’s invisible tracking spheres, it would be much better, with a lower likelihood of being attacked.

As long as the flying altitude was sufficient and invisible, they wouldn’t be easily spotted.

However, without invisibility, higher-level Fierce Beasts had exceptional vision.

Furthermore, they also had the ability to fly using telekinesis. Thus, shooting down UAVs was easy for them.

The previous 3 UAVs were destroyed like this; they were smashed to pieces, beyond repair.

"It would have been great if the satellite had high-resolution camera equipment, that way we could see the ground conditions." Lu Ke sighed.

"Unfortunately, they’re both communication satellites. However, there’s always a chance to acquire such a satellite." Xu Yi agreed with Lu Ke; if they had a satellite capable of taking photographs, it would eliminate the risk of being destroyed.

If indeed destroyed, it meant encountering enemies in outer space.

Small meteoroids and such could be autonomously avoided by the satellite, so there’s no worry.

If they encountered other space civilizations, they couldn’t withstand their weapons’ attacks.

"Yeah, after all, all of humanity is preparing to enter the Spirit Blue Star, so developing such satellites shouldn’t be too difficult." Lu Ke optimistically stated.

Xu Yi nodded, then began preparing dinner with Lu Ke.

After dinner, both continued their cultivation.

Late at night, Xu Yi received some alerts.

He immediately ended his cultivation and got up to check the situation.

In total, 13 UAVs had lost signal.

He promptly reviewed the last footage to inspect the situation.

As a result, Xu Yi discovered a kind of Flying Fierce Beast.

They were not large, similar to regular eagles.

However, they were all level-10 Fierce Beasts, which posed a significant challenge.
