The End of the Immortal Path

Chapter 382 - 223: Becoming the Evil God’s Apostle (Part 3)

He had even watched the other man walk the Golden Core Road.

More importantly, a single sentence from the man had dispelled all his resentment toward the past.

Chen Shi took out a Token. It bore a strange pattern resembling a door.

"This is a new Token we’ve created. You can use it to communicate with the Immortal Spirit and become a true Messenger," Chen Shi said.

Jiang Man took it. Just as he was about to try it out, Chen Shi reminded him, "It’s like a lock from the Immortal Spirit. The more you use it, the tighter it will bind you.

"Only for a Messenger it acknowledges will the Immortal Spirit help undo the lock.

"Otherwise, you’ll be locked at your current Realm for the rest of your life.

"You’ll never be able to advance another step."

Jiang Man understood as he listened. No wonder the others didn’t dare use the Token to become a Messenger directly.

’So it’s a method to lock one’s Heart Spirit.’

’If the Immortal Spirit doesn’t approve of you, you’re finished.’

’Does this mean I’ve been played for a fool?’

’Or at least, some of them must think so.’

’I thought they weren’t very bright, but it turns out they’re the clever ones.’

"With this Token, will I be the first person the Immortal Spirit sees when it awakens?" Jiang Man asked.

Chen Shi nodded. "Yes. The Messenger is our vital bridge to the Immortal Spirit."

Looking at the Token, Jiang Man heaved a heavy sigh.

’The Evil God is a real saint.’

’I needed an Evil God to suppress the Immortal Dao Coordinate anyway.’

’Arranging that would have been a huge hassle.’

’But now...’

’I can meet that Evil God directly.’

’I assume she’ll agree.’

’If she doesn’t, I’ll just have to let her keep sleeping.’

"So, what am I supposed to do?" Jiang Man asked curiously.

"There’s not much you have to do. But if you’re looking for something, you can see what our potential recruits need," Chen Shi explained. "Our job is to spread the name of the Immortal Spirit and recruit followers. Some of these potential followers have certain requirements before they’ll join.

"Fulfill their needs, and we can recruit them.

"Of course, some of it is just collaboration.

"Successful collaborations earn us certain rewards.

"The Immortal Spirit needs various ways to operate in the world. Once we have a reputation, people will naturally seek to work with us."

"For example?" Jiang Man asked.

Chen Shi fell silent for a moment before speaking. "For example, some people need Cultivation Skills, others need instruction, and still others need Elixirs or Magical Treasures. After all, even Ancient Cultivators need to advance, so they naturally want to obtain things from the Sects.

"So, they try to acquire or purchase them through various channels. We, the followers of the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit, currently engage in this sort of business as well.

"Earning resources is a shortcut to improving one’s strength."

Jiang Man was a little surprised. "What kind of people are we talking about?"

Chen Shi then handed Jiang Man a list. "I compiled this myself. You can actually find the details on the stone stele, but it takes a fair bit of time."

Jiang Man wasn’t about to do anything that required a lot of time.

He glanced at the list.

The Celestial Harmony Sect needed the Evergreen Sect’s Foundation Establishment Middle Grade Technique, preferably with annotations.

Qingyue Tower needed an Elixir that could enhance Charm Techniques.

The Lingyue Sect needed someone to provide commentary on the Seven Star Condensing Yuan Technique.

Further down the list were requests for Magical Treasures, Talismans, and Arrays.

Jiang Man was stunned.

’Your Evil God Organization has been running a smuggling operation this whole time?’

"Actually, some of the major families are involved in this sort of thing too," Chen Shi said.

"What’s the point of them learning a Top-grade Skill? They’ll get caught if they get anywhere near the territories of the Great Order," Jiang Man asked.

"They improve their Cultivation and then adapt it to their own skills. It’s not a huge problem," Chen Shi said after a moment of silence. "Besides, many of them will never go near the territories of the Great Order in their entire lives."

Jiang Man thought for a moment about the barren mountain ranges and the terrifying, poisonous barrier.

’It certainly wouldn’t be easy for a Foundation Establishment Cultivator to cross it.’

’A Qi Refining Cultivator would need incredible luck just to make it across alive.’

Afterward, Jiang Man asked for the specific details regarding the Lingyue Sect.

He decided to give it a try.

’Of course, it all depends on the price they’re offering.’

’Explaining a technique isn’t the same as handing over the entire Cultivation Skill. It should be fine.’

’Still, I’ll definitely have to report becoming an Evil God’s Envoy.’

’Otherwise, I’ll be in big trouble.’

’This is genuine collusion with an Evil God.’

’There’s no hiding this.’

’But I still need to get stronger as fast as possible. When the Evil God wakes up, if she turns out to be unreasonable, I’ll just have to make her understand that I have a little Talent for Cultivation myself.’
