Chapter 614 - 290: Lending a Hand (Part 2)
Jiang Feng walked out of his cave residence and entered the Main Hall on Yagu Peak.
Changyun, Qiu Shan, and several other Talisman Masters were exchanging insights; in front of the Divine Sect disciples, everyone was united. Changyun and Qiu Shan temporarily set aside their grievances, working together to research how to inscribe powerful talismans.
As luck would have it, Jiang Feng had just arrived at the Main Hall when Fa Zheng showed up immediately after, bringing Wu Qiyang and others with him. As a Third-Grade Talisman Master, Fa Zheng had often visited Yagu Peak these days. The Cyan Cloud Sect treated him as a guest; aside from a few places where their access was restricted, Fa Zheng could freely bring people in and out of Yagu Peak.
"Master Jiang, I’ve been here in the Cyan Cloud Sect for some time now, but I’ve never seen you inscribe a talisman. Would it be possible for me to witness your brilliance today?"
Fa Zheng spoke.
It seemed he was here specifically for Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng frowned. He’d handed over the Qinglong Cauldron and Dragon Bone Bow to the Cyan Cloud Sect, and it looked like the people of the Divine Sect were brooding over it, likely already scheming how to deal with him.
So Jiang Feng shook his head and said, "No."
Fa Zheng was taken aback, not expecting Jiang Feng to refuse so bluntly.
"You’re not just pretending to be a Talisman Master, are you? Maybe you’re not one at all!"
Wu Qiyang sneered.
"None of your business."
Jiang Feng replied with utter disdain.
"You—"
Wu Qiyang choked on Jiang Feng’s retort.
"Master Jiang, I obtained this talisman from members of the Central Earth Xiao Family. They said it was crafted by you. I wonder, do you still recognize it?"
Fa Zheng produced a rather crude Rapid Movement Talisman.
He placed the Rapid Movement Talisman on the table and commented, "This Rapid Movement Talisman—there are flaws in the text seal, and the talisman paper is inferior, yet you still managed to inscribe it successfully. Even if this Rapid Movement Talisman is the lowest grade of talisman, it’s clear your talent far surpasses the others. I think you shouldn’t just be a First-Grade Talisman Master."
Fa Zheng’s gaze was sharp as he kept his eyes fixed on Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng and Changyun both felt a jolt in their hearts.
"Elder Fa Zheng flatters me. This Rapid Movement Talisman is indeed my handiwork. As for my talent and strength, what do you think?"
Jiang Feng hadn’t expected the Blood Domain Divine Sect to investigate him so thoroughly, even managing to get a talisman he’d refined from the Xiao Family and to use it as a basis to question his true strength, suspecting he was more than just a First-Grade Talisman Master.
However, his strength as a Fourth-Grade Talisman Master was only attained after joining the Cyan Cloud Sect, so Jiang Feng didn’t have to worry about Fa Zheng noticing his current real strength.
"I really can’t guess. How about this—we ’lend a hand.’ If you can take it, this Yellow Level Top Grade Golden Cicada Talisman will be yours."
Fa Zheng produced another talisman.
On it, the text seal resembled a golden cicada perched there, and it was a talisman with formidable defensive power.
Yellow Level Top Grade.
It’s worth noting that the Rapid Movement Talisman Qiu Shan inscribed was only Yellow Level Lower Grade.
Only a Fourth-Grade Talisman Master could reliably inscribe a Yellow Level Top Grade talisman. If you gave it to a Third-Grade Talisman Master to inscribe, like someone with Xiang Pangyun’s cultivation, it would take at least ten attempts, maybe dozens, and the materials used would exceed the talisman’s value before a successful inscription was possible.
And for Fa Zheng to so easily present it, it was clear this talisman came from a Fourth-Grade Talisman Master.
"Jiang Feng is my disciple. If you need a hand, let me do it!"
Changyun stepped forward.
’Lend a hand’ meant testing the depth of the other’s soul power.
Jiang Feng was a Fourth-Grade Talisman Master.
If he slipped up, it could cause all sorts of trouble.
"No need to worry, Master Chang. I guarantee I will never harm him, unless he has some secret on him that you Cyan Cloud Sect fear our Divine Sect discovering."
Fa Zheng spoke meaningfully.
"Elder Fa Zheng, no need for this—Jiang Feng is my disciple. I won’t allow anyone to harm him under any pretense. After all, your Divine Sect’s methods are too clever; it’s impossible to guard against them."
Changyun was not deceived, nor did he show the slightest panic.
"Master Jiang, this Golden Cicada Talisman was crafted by our Divine Sect’s Fourth-Grade Talisman Master. If you can claim it, you might gain an unexpected benefit."
Fa Zheng refused to answer Changyun directly, instead turning to try and entice Jiang Feng.
"A talisman made by a Fourth-Grade Talisman Master is too profound. Even if he obtains it, he wouldn’t be able to comprehend its mysteries."
Changyun spoke up to defuse the situation for Jiang Feng.
"Master Changyun, though this Golden Cicada Talisman may not help me, perhaps it could help you or Master Xiang."
Jiang Feng suddenly spoke.
He didn’t think Fa Zheng knew about his Fourth-Grade Talisman Master strength.
Instead, it seemed Fa Zheng was unhappy that the Qinglong Cauldron and Dragon Bone Bow had been handed over to the Cyan Cloud Sect, and wanted to teach him a lesson, hence using the Golden Cicada Talisman to lure him.
If he refused, it might only arouse more suspicion.
After all, as a Talisman Master, who could turn down a Yellow Level Top Grade talisman?
"Enough! Elder Fa Zheng is a Third-Grade Talisman Master, and even Master Xiang might not get the better of him. Are you not afraid of losing your cultivation by lending him a hand?"
Changyun snorted coldly.
"You overstate, Master Chang. I guarantee I will not harm your disciple."
Fa Zheng vowed earnestly.
As he spoke, he reached his hand out toward Jiang Feng.
"Master Changyun, I trust Elder Fa Zheng won’t hurt me."
Jiang Feng joined in, extending his hand to grasp Fa Zheng’s.
"Oh, wait, just a moment!"
But just before their hands made contact, Jiang Feng pulled his hand back.
"Is there a problem?"
Fa Zheng frowned.
"Please wait."
Jiang Feng ran out of the Main Hall.
Leaving everyone staring blankly.
Outside the Main Hall.
Jiang Feng checked his Fortune Point.
Fortune: 8,711,901
"It’s increased by more than eight million. Fa Zheng really harbors bad intentions."
Jiang Feng exclaimed.
Fa Zheng was a Golden Core powerhouse with unfathomable strength, also a Third-Grade Talisman Master. Even if his soul power wasn’t as deep, his cultivation alone could crush Jiang Feng. How could Jiang Feng dare rashly ’lend him a hand’? It was just a pretense to test him.
