Chapter 96 - Don’t Try To Find Me
Duke Charles gulped, the rolls of fat all over his body vibrating with the movement.
"Leave," he said, leaning his head back as far as he could, trying to escape the blade that kept following him.
The two girls paused only for a fraction of a second before they turned and scurried out of the door. They didn’t even try and stay to figure out why they had been sent away so suddenly, they just fled away as quickly as possible.
"Now then," I said aloud the moment the doors closed behind them. "Since we’re alone now, let’s have a little chat."
I finally removed my blade from his throat, moving around the table, still completely concealed. I did however make sure that he could hear each of my movements, just so he knew I was still around.
Across from him I pulled out the chair, and calmly sat down at the table, even picking up a piece of meat from the tray of food, and savouring its flavours. It must have been quite the spectacle, seeing a piece of meat float around, and then disappearing.
"Wh... who are you?" Duke Charles stammered out.
"Let’s just say that I’m a man who holds a bit of a grudge against you," I said. "Which I can guess for a man with your reputation doesn’t say much."
"What do you want?" He asked again.
"For today... not much," I answered, eating another piece of meat. "I just wanted to come and introduce myself."
"You call this an introduction?" The duke asked, gesturing toward me. "You don’t even dare to show yourself to me."
"What would be the fun in that?" I laughed. "I prefer you trying to figure out what to do, how to stop everything that’s going wrong, and not knowing exactly who caused it."
"Expecting a day where I would walk into this palace of yours, not to have a chat," I continued in a lower voice. "Maybe next time I won’t just threaten to take your head, or maybe I would, who knows?"
The Duke’s eyes just widened more and more with each of my words, his shivering becoming worse and worse.
"Or maybe I would just come back to see that fear on your face," I smiled.
"Why are you doing this!?" The man finally snapped.
"Why, you ask?" I smiled again. "I guess I can give you that much at least."
"You see," I said. "Normally I’m a pretty easygoing person. I don’t like picking fights with people, I don’t like getting into politics, and I tend to avoid conflict, but there are a few things that I hate enough in this world to make me stop being that person."
"And you," I continued, pointing my blade at him again, even though he couldn’t see it. "You ticked each and every one of those boxes."
"You’re a corrupt leader," I said, ticking a box in the air. "You steal from your own people, you harm those weaker than yourself, and then there is your greatest sin, the sin that will be your undoing."
I stood from my chair again, walking around the table to stand behind him again, this time I rested one of my hands on his shoulder.
"You threatened the life of the woman I love," I whispered into his ear. "And that, dearest Duke Charles, is what’s going to be the end of you."
The man started to shiver and shake like a bowl of jelly, his fat rippling like a mountain of custard. The man was basically sweating buckets.
"But don’t worry," I continued. "I’m not going to kill you, that would be far too light a punishment for a scumbag such as yourself. Oh no, no, no, I have something far better planned for you, something that’s much worse than death for a person like you."
I walked around the room again, savouring the fear that I could practically taste coming from him.
"So I expect you to put up quite a struggle, okay," I said, coming to a stop near one of the women that lay on the bed, gently covering her with a sheet. "It won’t be any fun if you simply gave up."
"But I want you to remember one thing," I continued, covering all of the other women on the bed as well. "I can come back here whenever I want, and there won’t be anyone that could stop me."
"So if I find out that you made even one more woman suffer like this," I said, my voice lowering to a threatening degree again. "You won’t live to see the next day."
"Now then, since I’ve said everything I came here to say, I guess it’s about time for me to leave," I said as I opened a portal behind me again. "Oh! And don’t try to find me, you won’t be able to."
"Or maybe you should try to find me," I laughed as I started to step through the portal. "It’ll be fun to watch you try and fail after all."
The last thing I saw as I stepped back into the portal was a liquid start to drizzle down the fat legs of Duke Charles, which made me grin as wide as I could, the punishment had started off exactly as planned after all.
A moment later I found myself back in the narrow alley next to our inn again.
My gaze drifted around the empty alley again, making sure there wasn’t anyone around that could have seen the portal open. I spread my senses as far as I could, making as sure as I could. The moment I was sure there was no one around, I finally dropped my concealment, and with a sigh made my way out of the alley.
A moment later, I found myself in the inn.
An inn that was completely different to my first experience in an inn in a city, unlike the Forest Flute back in Stellor City, this inn was quiet, and organized.
It was almost like the difference between a five star restaurant and a fast food joint back on Earth.
I scanned the room, looking for Erick at one of the tables in the quiet, and luxurious looking, diner. Within moments I found the man quietly sitting at a table against the far wall.
I made my way over to him, and plopped down on the seat across from him.
"So, how much did this fancy place rob me of?" I asked.
"I think it’s better if you don’t know," Erick smiled. "How did it go?"
"Well I definitely scared him shitless," I smiled, calling over one of the waiters and ordering a glass of wine.
I figured since I was already being robbed blind, I might as well buy myself a decent glass of wine in the process.
"What’s the plan now?" Erick asked.
"Now we find that bastard son of his," I said after thinking about it for a while.
