Chapter 208: The Family Trial
Hearing Morgana’s words, a gossipy expression appeared on everyone’s faces. There were all young men and women here, and every one of them liked to listen to such explosive news.
"Oh, what happened?? Do tell us."
"Yes, yes, did that bastard bother you? Tell us. We will go there and beat him up." Another guy chimed in from the side.
Most of the guys had a happy expression on their faces. They wanted Morgana and her boyfriend to fight even more. She was one of the most beautiful girls in the academy, and it was hard to know she already had a relationship. They couldn’t wait for her to break up so they could get a chance.
"Heh, don’t ask. I won’t tell you. It’s between me and him. I’ll take care of it myself." Morgana disdained to comment any further. Which normal couple didn’t fight like this every once in a while?? It was just a normal spat, and they would be back to their lovey-dovey selves in a few days.
"Please tell us!! If he dares to mistreat you, we will go there and get justice on your behalf!!" One of the guys spoke up, his expression full of mock righteousness.
"With just you?? You guys can’t even beat me, let alone him. I’m warning you guys: stay away from him. First, you can’t beat him, and even if you did, I won’t talk to you. I love him very much, and there is nothing that can break us apart." Morgana declared in a confident voice, causing the guy’s face to flush in shame.
The others also burst out in laughter, causing his face to redden even further.
After a few more moments of laughter, everyone got up and left to train again. The atmosphere in Archon Academy was incredibly competitive. They all needed to keep training again and again to even stay there. If they didn’t, they would be expelled.
And no one wanted to be expelled from here and be the shame of their family. It was the best training ground in the world. Even the richest and most diverse families sent their kids here. The Academy contained unique resources that were not found anywhere else in the world.
Before long, everyone left, leaving behind a lone guy who had been mocked by Morgana before.
"Heh, you bitch! You dare to mock me because of the Archon Academy? Your family is nothing next to mine. I’ll show you what true power means. I might not be able to touch your family, but your boyfriend?? Hehehehe..."
----------------------------
It had been a few days since Rose hatched, and life had gotten back on track.
Raiden had fallen back into the routine of watering his plants, taking care of the sheep and using the system to upgrade the potential of everything.
By now, almost all the sheep on the farm were S-Tier, producing massive amounts of wool that were used to produce more clothes in Sarah and Woolie’s Textile shop. As for why he didn’t upgrade them to EX tier?? He didn’t want to attract unwanted attention.
The craze at the shop had died down as well, with sales coming back down to a more stable level. But many people still visited the shop, due to Woolie playing a massive role in the war.
Seeing this destruction and the loss of life that was caused, both Sarah and Raiden decided to donate 50% of their earnings in efforts to rebuild the city and to the families of the deceased, earning them a lot of goodwill.
However, due to this decision combined with the loan amount pending, the shop barely broke even. So right now, Raiden still didn’t see any of the money in his hands. In fact, he even had to spend more to keep it running.
This led him to question his own decision of buying the shop multiple times. Who exactly was working for whom???
"Forget it! It’s just a few more months. After that, the shop will produce a massive profit for me, and I’ll be drowning in money."
Tring Tring~
"Hello??"
"Hello, Raiden. How have you been??"
Hearing the familiar voice, a smile broke on Raiden’s face.
"Maple!! How have you been? I am so glad that you survived. Thank you for protecting me the last time." Raiden’s voice was full of gratefulness.
She had jumped in front of the black dragon to give him time to escape, saving his life. But due to that, she suffered a fatal injury herself, almost being digested by the black dragon.
Thankfully, she had an artefact that protected her. Otherwise, he would have lost another friend in this war as well.
"Don’t mention it. You are a young man with a limitless future. It’s my duty to protect someone like you. Anyways, are you free these days??" Maple spoke with casual nonchalance.
Hearing her words, Raiden didn’t say anything, but suddenly noted down this favour in his heart. If there was a chance in the future, he would pay it back in full.
"Sure! I am free most of the time. What do you need??"
"Well, here is the thing. You know that our young miss comes from the prominent Stormwind family, right?" Maple asked.
"You mean Aria?? Yes, I remember." Raiden nodded to himself. He always remembered the slightly clumsy and dizzy girl, who was the first person to help him.
"Well, here is the thing: our young miss is going back to the head branch of the family to take part in a trial. This is a very important trial for her. But only young people and Battle Masters under the Gold Tier are allowed. She is allowed to take two protectors with her. We already have one, and we are looking for the other one. If you are willing to take part in it, Old Man Tobias would be very grateful. He would owe you in favour."
"Say no more, it’s just a small family trial, right? I’ll participate. Just tell me when and where. As for the favour, don’t mention it." Raiden interrupted her talk. If Aria asked for his help, he would have done it anyway.
She was so far the biggest benefactor in his life, allowing him to meet with Woolie.
Otherwise, his life would have looked very different from what it did right now.
"Thank you for your agreement. It will be in a few days. We’ll pick you up from home and send all the details on the phone." Maple let out a sigh of relief.
With Raiden’s support secured, this family trial was as good as theirs.
After a few more polite talks, Raiden hung up his phone.
He hadn’t gone out once in the past 3 months. This family trial, he started looking forward to it.
