Chapter 383 - 389: Cracking a Watermelon
’Trying to cut in?’
Song Wanning’s gaze darkened. Her hands moved faster, quickly plucking the fruit and placing it into her Storage Ring.
She then pulled the Moonlit Mountain Flower up by its roots and tossed it toward the approaching figure.
THWAP—
The flower landed right in front of the man, a silent provocation that completely ignited his rage.
"How dare you mock me?"
The man stopped mid-air, his face flushing red with fury.
His eyes were filled with sullen anger.
When he got a clear look at Song Wanning, he snorted coldly. "So you’re from the Ancient Cold Sect. No wonder you’re so arrogant."
With that, he took another step forward, his voice dripping with menace.
"Are you going to hand it over, or am I going to take it from you?"
A silent, formless killing intent flowed out. It seemed that if Song Wanning so much as said the word "no," he would cast her into a state of eternal damnation.
"Heh."
Song Wanning stood her ground, her expression indifferent. Upon hearing his words, she let out a cold laugh.
"Do all of you from the Piaomiao Sect love to waste time with pointless chatter?"
"You think someone like you can make me hand anything over?"
With a flick of her wrist, her Longsword quivered, and her eyes instantly became incredibly dangerous.
The man, not yet sensing the danger and feeling only the insult, immediately drew his Lifebound Magical Treasure and charged at Song Wanning.
His Lifebound Magical Treasure was the Meteor Double Hammer, and he swung them with such force that they howled through the air.
A tremendous power unleashed from the twin hammers, and it felt as if the very air around them began to crackle and pop.
Song Wanning’s expression was frosty. Since he didn’t understand the principle of first come, first served, she would have to teach him.
’Besides, this Secret Realm is cut off from all outside detection. If he dies, he dies. No one will ever find the killer.’
At this thought, she suddenly smiled at the man.
In the next instant, her Longsword was out of its sheath, slashing viciously toward him.
The immense power of her Sword Dao True Realm, carrying an aura of absolute suppression, shattered the Spiritual Energy Vortex from the hammers and continued toward the man.
The man’s brow furrowed. A little surprised, he suddenly produced a folding fan and waved it at the Sword Dao True Realm.
Instantly, a seven-colored radiance spread out, followed by a dense swarm of insects pouring forth.
The insects were incredibly fast, their mouths filled with sharp teeth. The sound of their gnawing could almost be heard from their flight alone.
With so many of them, they could devour a person completely in less than two minutes.
This was the man’s ultimate move. The insects were extremely difficult to eliminate completely; as long as even one survived, it could reproduce endlessly.
Furthermore, their gnawing ability was so strong they could even chew through magical barriers.
Swarms of insects rushed toward Song Wanning, instantly devouring all the residual Spiritual Power of her Sword Dao True Realm, which made her raise an eyebrow.
’Now this is a nice little treasure!’
Her smile widened, and her gaze toward the man became much more... amiable.
But this sudden change in her eyes made the man’s heart sink. He instinctively felt that something was wrong.
He let out another low shout and attacked again, swinging his Meteor Double Hammer.
Light flashed between heaven and earth, like a meteor streaking across the sky.
Song Wanning’s expression was calm as she swung her sword.
Then, she pushed her movement technique to its limit, appearing behind the man in a single breath’s time.
She gave a small smile and brought her palm down on the man’s head.
Her speed was extreme and completely unexpected. By the time the man realized what was happening, an immense force had already descended upon his head.
He didn’t even have time to turn his head before it shattered like a watermelon.
Even his Nascent Soul was smashed to bits along with it.
BOOM—
The man’s body plummeted from mid-air, with only a scrap of scalp still connecting it to his shoulders.
The ground was splattered with brains and blood, looking particularly ghastly and nauseating in the moonlight.
Song Wanning merely gave it a passing glance. With a casual lift of her hand, she yanked off the man’s Storage Ring, then incinerated his corpse with a burst of fire.
She looked at her own palm with satisfaction, gaining a new appreciation for the power it contained.
A single palm strike had shattered the enemy’s Spiritual Energy Shield, cracked his skull open, and annihilated his Nascent Soul. It was a clear testament to the palm’s immense power.
Most Cultivators these days were Magic Cultivators. Very few trained in Body Refinement simultaneously, including herself.
Body Refinement took too much time, required enduring great hardship, and involved soaking in countless medicinal baths.
If one got stuck, advancing their Cultivation became extremely difficult. As a result, pure Body Cultivators were exceedingly rare in the Cultivation World.
Magic Cultivators relied on Spiritual Energy Shields or Defense Shields for protection, so very few would ever expect Song Wanning’s fists to be so powerful.
Now, it had become an excellent tool for surprise attacks and was Song Wanning’s new trump card.
Looking up, she saw the masterless insects flying about in a panicked, chaotic swarm.
She picked up the man’s folding fan and discovered it was a Space Treasure.
The insects normally lived inside it.
Without hesitation, Song Wanning claimed ownership of the fan and recalled the insects into it.
The insects were numerous and had a powerful bite. They would be very useful in the Secret Realm.
She then moved the man’s Storage Ring into her personal inner space, making it impossible for anyone to detect the items on her. It was foolproof.
After a quick clean-up of the battlefield, Song Wanning flew onward.
Just half a minute after she left, a figure emerged from a nearby cave, letting out a long sigh of relief.
He was holding a Memory Stone, his forehead beaded with cold sweat.
"Luckily, she didn’t spot me. That woman’s combat strength is insane! She’s far more than a simple Mid-stage Void Refining cultivator!"
The man let out another deep breath. "Now that I’ve recorded the evidence, I’ll sell it to the Piaomiao Sect after I leave the Secret Realm and earn a favor..."
He had his own calculations. After all, Song Wanning was too strong; he didn’t dare to confront her himself, so he could only pass the evidence on to someone else.
"I have to get out of here. It’ll be trouble if she comes back!"
The man’s heart pounded with lingering fear. The scene of the Piaomiao Sect disciple’s head exploding was just too shocking.
He was still terrified.
However, he had only taken a few steps when a figure in the darkness ahead blocked his path.
Even though it was just a silhouette seen from behind, the man still recognized her.
’This is bad!’
His heart sank, and he immediately turned to flee.
But who would have known that a Golden Small Sword would suddenly appear? In an instant, it transformed into a long golden sword, its tip gleaming with an eerie light, pointing right at him.
If he dared to take another step, it would immediately lunge at him.
He froze. ’It’s over.’
The man’s expression shifted rapidly. He immediately took out the Memory Stone and spoke respectfully to the figure, "Senior, it’s a misunderstanding! All a misunderstanding!"
"I just saw your heroic bearing, Senior, and was filled with admiration, so I specially recorded it..."
Inwardly, he was cursing up a storm, but his mind was racing, trying to figure out how to escape.
Even though they were both at the Mid-stage Void Refining realm, Song Wanning could kill him with a single palm strike. He really didn’t dare to take the risk.
