Venerable Demon Chef

Chapter 537 - 534: I Can Cure It

The members of the Northern United Army were utterly dumbfounded.

"Uncle Niu’s Kitchen God" Restaurant?

Grand opening?

’We’re here trying to figure out how to kill you, and you’re telling us about your restaurant’s grand opening?!’

’What, you expect us to show up and be your patrons?’

Mo Qi ignored everyone’s strange stares and continued, "In addition to some home-style dishes, this restaurant also offers private, custom-tailored services. We specialize in treating all kinds of difficult and complex illnesses. There isn’t an injury I can’t heal or a disease I can’t cure; only ones you can’t imagine."

The crowd from the North District was speechless.

’Are you opening a restaurant or a medical clinic?’

’And that’s an awfully big boast!’

’There are at least eight thousand physicians present, if not ten thousand. Even a great expert from the Immortal Realm’s Divine Master Valley wouldn’t dare make such a boast.’

As if sensing their disbelief, Mo Qi casually pointed to a middle-aged man outside the array.

"You. Every night, between eleven p.m. and five a.m., you feel a sharp, twisting pain an inch below your navel. This problem has been going on for thirteen years, hasn’t it?"

The middle-aged man’s face paled. "How do you know that?"

Mo Qi smiled. "If I couldn’t even see that, what would be the point of my restaurant’s grand opening?"

The middle-aged man was utterly confused.

’What does that have to do with a restaurant opening?’

"Thirteen years ago, you attempted to refine a batch of elixirs that was far beyond your ability to control, and the furnace exploded. As a result, internal fire invaded your body, and you suffered a backlash from the Alchemy Dao. In another year or so, it won’t be just a simple stomachache. Your meridians will wither, your Dantian will collapse, and you will die in excruciating pain."

Mo Qi’s words left the middle-aged man stunned into silence.

Thirteen years ago, he had indeed attempted to refine a batch of elixirs far beyond his level. At the critical moment of fusing their medicinal properties, his Power of the Soul had been insufficient, causing the pills to be destroyed and the furnace to explode.

His abdominal pain had started then, and its intensity and duration had been increasing with each passing day.

He had consulted countless ancient texts and secretly sought advice from many seniors, but he had never found a solution.

He never expected that Mo Qi could identify the problem with a single glance.

"I can heal that condition of yours," Mo Qi added.

The middle-aged man was taken aback. It was hard to believe, but deep down, he found himself inexplicably trusting Mo Qi’s words.

Mo Qi paid him no further attention, instead turning to another Immortal.

He was a powerfully built Immortal, his muscles bulging like stone and practically radiating explosive power.

"That physique of yours... it isn’t natural, is it?"

The brawny Immortal froze, apparently not expecting Mo Qi to address him.

"To gain strength, you cover your entire body with the sap of the Ghost Vine once a week. You’ve gained power, yes, but the toxins from the Ghost Vine aren’t easy to endure, are they?"

The brawny Immortal was aghast. "You... How could you know that?"

This was his secret—or rather, his entire family’s greatest secret.

They were one of the few families in the North District that didn’t deal in Alchemy or Artifact Refining.

The Ghost Vine is extremely poisonous, but when combined with a secret family recipe, it can tremendously strengthen the physique, making the body as tough as an Immortal Artifact, or even tougher.

That was how he had built his brawny physique.

However, as effective as the recipe was, it couldn’t completely eliminate the Ghost Vine’s toxins.

While this method of body-tempering Cultivation strengthened the physical body, it also meant absorbing some of the Ghost Vine’s toxins.

Though not fatal, these toxins would cause a Cultivator’s flesh and joints to gradually stiffen and lose feeling, eventually fusing together.

Therefore, in the later stages, a Cultivator using this method would find their body becoming as stiff as a rock, causing them indescribable suffering.

"I can heal you."

Mo Qi then turned his gaze to a female Cultivator.

"You and your partner are intimate every night, yet you haven’t conceived even once in several hundred years."

The female Cultivator was speechless.

Feeling the peculiar stares of the surrounding crowd, she burned with shame and anger.

’How could he say something so private out in the open?!’

’Isn’t this just meant to humiliate me!’

"I can heal you!" It was those three words from Mo Qi again.

"Really?" The female Cultivator’s eyes lit up, all thoughts of embarrassment forgotten.

If she weren’t wary of Mo Qi’s array, she would have already lunged over and dragged him to her side.

Just as Mo Qi had said, she and her husband had been trying for hundreds of years, but she had never been able to conceive.

They had long ago sought help from various famous physicians and pharmacists, both inside and outside their family. But despite their examinations, not a single one had been able to identify the problem.

Not being able to have a child had always been her greatest heartache.

"Of course, it’s true," Mo Qi nodded.

Then, he once again looked out at the crowd beyond the array.

"When you underwent your Immortal Celestial Tribulation, you were affected by an outside force. The damage to your foundation was never repaired in time, and your Cultivation hasn’t progressed at all in over a thousand years, has it?"

"I can heal you."

...

"Six months ago, you consumed a purple Immortal Fruit. You thought it was a Purple Spirit Immortal Fruit, but it was actually a Purple Nether Fruit. Not only does it fail to consolidate your Cultivation, it will scatter your power. In another six months, you will fall out of the Immortal Realm."

"I can heal you."

...

"You... what? You think you’re fine? You don’t think the throbbing pain in your meridians during your last few Cultivation sessions was a coincidence, do you? Heh. Believe it or not, if you keep this up, you’ll suffer from Qi deviation and your meridians will burst!"

"I can heal you."

As Mo Qi precisely diagnosed one person after another, anyone his gaze swept over, regardless of their Cultivation level, felt their heart clench in fear.

Those who knew they had a problem desperately hoped he wouldn’t point it out in public, while those who believed themselves to be perfectly healthy were terrified he would find some hidden ailment.

"This kid is too freaky!"

"Is what he’s saying for real?"

"Didn’t you see their faces darken? None of them denied it. He’s most likely hit the nail on the head."

"Can he really heal them?"

"Who knows? But since he can accurately pinpoint so many problems just with his eyes, he must have some real skill. Maybe he actually can heal them."

The crowd from the North District murmured amongst themselves.

After pointing out the problems of a few more people, Mo Qi stopped.

He wasn’t really here to act as a physician. He just wanted to use this display to prove to everyone that his restaurant’s opening was no joke.

"Brother Gu Peng, come out here for a moment."

Mo Qi called out toward the restaurant.

Gu Peng flew to Mo Qi’s side. "What can I do for you, Brother Mo?"

Mo Qi clapped Gu Peng on the shoulder and pushed him forward.

"This brother of mine here had his Dantian shattered and his meridians destroyed. But as you can all see now, not only have his injuries completely healed, but his Cultivation has also advanced by an entire Great Realm."

"You’re probably asking how that was possible. Well, let me tell you. It’s all because he ate the food I cooked."

The crowd burst into an uproar at his words.

"Kid, do you take us for fools?"

’Healing a shattered Dantian and raising your Cultivation level just by eating some food?’

’You might as well say eating can make you ascend to the heavens!’

Faced with their skepticism, Mo Qi simply smiled and pointed toward Gu Weitian. "It was he who personally shattered Gu Peng’s Dantian. If you don’t believe me, you can ask him."

All eyes immediately focused on Gu Weitian.

Gu Weitian’s brow furrowed. Though he didn’t want to admit it, he finally nodded.
