Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 599 - 65: Origin_3

Though Grinek also didn’t open his eyes and didn’t respond, he stretched his head over, opened his mouth, revealing hook-like fangs, and leaned towards Sakaro.

Sakaro tossed the meal he had prepared into the greedy Demon Python’s mouth. Grinek swallowed it in one gulp, smacked his lips like a human, retracted his head, and muttered, "Today’s breakfast is so-so, not as tasty as those Demons."

Sakaro chuckled, and after receiving permission to pass, he led the team onward.

The frontline here, the most dangerous sector, seemed to be the most relaxed part of the entire city wall.

Those Warriors clad in newly forged, pieced-together Heavy Armor leaned lazily against the wall, gripping their Cross Longsword or Sheep Horn Hammer, showing no tension for the potential outbreak of battle. Occasionally, they’d let out an awkward joke from beneath their stifling Face Armor.

It wasn’t until Sakaro arrived that these Warriors lifted their helmets, revealing eyes of different colors and resolute faces, sitting boldly in place, waiting silently for the logistics team to place the food before them before beginning to eat quietly.

Sakaro didn’t communicate with these Warriors; he knew that these Dragon Legion Warriors were proud in their hearts, but it didn’t manifest here. It was evident in these Warriors who conserved every bit of their stamina through prolonged battle, avoiding any unnecessary movements.

After passing through these Dragon Legion Warriors, Sakaro and the logistics team suddenly became more solemn, for they were about to enter the most perilous area.

Not only because this area faced the fiercest Demon assaults, but also because of the inherent danger posed by the Warriors stationed here.

The silent rows of Golems were resting. These Heroic Spirits’ Warriors were not the danger.

The danger lay with those surrounded and controlled by the Golem Legion, with an average height of over three and a half meters, sporting massive Demon wings. Their bodies and faces were indistinguishable from powerful High Tier Demons outside.

Unfortunately, Sakaro lacked extensive knowledge and couldn’t distinguish between Demons and Devils. Otherwise, he would know that here existed not only Demons but also Devils.

These Warriors were Legion Warriors with both Demon and Devil bloodlines. Over the years of battle, these Warriors slaughtered Demons. Some Demons’ essences and Souls return to their original plane upon death.

However, many Demons, after dying, had their Souls devoured by these special Warriors to replenish their strength and heal wounds.

Some Demons were even torn from their bodies alive for their hearts to be devoured by these Warriors.

After consuming Demons’ Souls and heart essences, these Warriors grew ever stronger and more twisted by the day, until their ancient bloodlines fully awoke, turning them into this form.

The originally controllable bloodline, after absorbing excessive Demon power and growth, became unmanageable, a significant source of their danger.

Thus, these Warriors daily prayed to their Emperor, to the God they served, maintaining benign mutations and evolution through absolute devotion.

When Sakaro led his team here, these Warriors, indistinguishable from Demons and Devils, were all silently praying with their heads bowed.

As the team carefully set down the food, Sakaro noticed Gilenis, one of the leaders of the Dragon Legion and one of the Three Heroes of the Imperial, unusually entering a state of slumber against the city wall.

Sakaro hesitated for a moment, then turned and quietly left. In his Heart Energy perception, the resolve of these Warriors remained unwavering, unchanged.

The flags snapped loudly, and the distant unrest from the opposite shore began to reach them.

Gilenis sat with his eyes closed on the ground, the massive Heavy Hammer resting between his legs.

"May I sit with you?" a gentle voice came.

Gilenis opened his eyes, and a man stood beside him. The city wall was quietly shrouded in mist, reminiscent of a dream.

His face was masculine yet gentle, with red eyes flickering with dark gold. A crimson cloak draped over his gold-red Armor, with a barely visible crown that seemed more naturally formed than decorative.

Gilenis stood and nodded, "It would be my honor."

The man crouched beside Gilenis, his eyes looking toward the outside world.

"Are we not in the outside world?" Gilenis asked the man.

The man turned his head, his remarkable presence undimmed by the hazy mist, and he smiled softly: "This is a Spiritual space, you and I are in a dream."

"You’ve been fighting for a long time, just like those Warriors. You all have become exceptional!"

Gilenis couldn’t help but ask, "Will those Warriors be able to meet you as I do?"

The man glanced at Gilenis, picked up the Heavy Hammer from the ground, examined it for a few moments, and then handed it back to Gilenis, speaking softly: "Of course, if that’s the meaning of your perseverance!"
