Chapter 102 - Rescue Mission
My lovely wife, you’re definitely not alone in your feelings of longing, I can’t believe that I have to sleep in a lonely and empty bed again tonight. But Erick already spent my money to book our rooms in this inn so I have to extract their value, even if I dearly want to teleport home immediately.
At least the idiot only booked for tonight, so we will definitely be home again tomorrow. It should definitely be a lot cheaper than renting inn rooms every night.
As for the approaching army problem, we’ll deal with that threat accordingly, seeing as they believe it is beneath them to negotiate with the people of the villages they’ve conquered, we’ll show them no mercy when they appear.
I’m happy to hear that we now have over a hundred people that can use magic, that means we can rain down hell on that army from the ramparts, we wouldn’t even need to send anyone out to battle them on the ground.
I’ll leave their training to you and the Inferno General.
I can’t believe you didn’t share Cat’s moniker with me, I absolutely love it, it’s probably one of the most fitting ones I have ever heard. But not more than your own. I’m such a lucky man to be married to two such powerful and famous women.
Anyway, I think you should send Jason and some men out again, they should warn the other villages in the path of the approaching army, and help their villagers evacuate back to Lofie, we can figure out what to do with them once the threat has been dealt with.
You’ll be happy to hear that I have already bought the ledgers we need, and will bring them and some cards I have programmed with us tomorrow.
With all my love for my beautiful wives.

That was the charming letter I wrote back to Julia that night after Erick and I got back to the inn.
After I had received the letter from Julia, we had spent some more time talking about our plans with Jeremiah.
In the end we had decided that we would start implementing our plans the next day.
Jeremiah had said that he would accompany me to save his mother the following night. I needed him to show me where she was kept, and also to calm her down when someone just suddenly appeared near her. Charles was so confident of his control over his bastard son that he hadn’t even bothered to hide where he was keeping his mother.
That confidence was going to be one of the first mistakes that would cause his inevitable downfall.
The plan after that was simple, as soon as we rescued her we would immediately teleport back to Lofie village, taking Jeremiah and his mother with us. We would then come back the day after that, and bring Jeremiah with us again, but leave his mother in the village, where she would be safe.
After that Erick and I had gone to a few shops to buy some supplies, and the ledgers, while there was still some daylight left.
"Shit!" I exclaimed when I reread my letter to Julia again.
I had made a very big mistake after all, from what they were supposed to know, Erick and I were actually supposed to still be on our way to Virshak, which meant that me admitting that I had already bought the ledgers might as well have been me admitting that we were already there.
Which is the same as me admitting that I had actually lied to them.
Which was not going to end well for me.
"Ah damnit," I grumbled. "Maybe we can stay in the city for a while?"
"Just until they’ve calmed down a bit," I mumbled.
"Will they calm down themselves? Or would that just make it worse?" I whispered to myself, physically pulling at my hair, imagining the punishment that was going to bring me.
"Ah well," I finally sighed. "I was going to have to tell them everything anyway when I came back tomorrow with two strangers."
"I might as well just go to sleep," I whispered to myself as I got up from the small desk in my room and plopped down on the bed.
Once again it took me what felt like hours to finally fall asleep. But at least when I finally did fall asleep, it was kind of peaceful.
The next morning I woke up with a smile on my face again, I was going to go home again after all.
Yes, yes, I know that we had been home only the previous day, but clearly those of you who thought that I was ’lame’ don’t have two very beautiful wives waiting for you at your own homes.
I’m just going to skip past some of the things that happened that day, since really there hadn’t been anything very exciting. Erick and I had breakfast in the inn’s diner, which cost me another fortune, and then we spent almost the entire day exploring Virshak City.
Until finally we met up with Jeremiah, just as darkness started to fall, at the same inn we had spent the previous night discussing our plans.
"Are you ready?" I asked Jeremiah as soon as we saw him.
"Yes," he nodded. "I can’t wait for my mother to finally be free of that man’s grasp."
"Good," I smiled. "Lead the way."
Without saying anything more, Jeremiah turned and made his way to the center of the city.
We walked in silence all the way to the very center again.
"Is she being kept in the palace?" I finally asked as we came closer and closer to the palace.
Obviously it wouldn’’t have changed the plan at all, I could just as easily sneak us into the palace as anywhere else.
"No," Jeremiah shook his head. "She’s being held in the dungeons next to it."
"The dungeons?" I frowned, Erick and I had spent the entire day walking around the city, but I hadn’t seen anything that looked like a prison.
A few minutes later we came to a stop across the street from a massive building, one that was only overshadowed by the palace next to it. The first time I had seen it I had simply thought it was another mansion.
But when I looked at it at that moment, looked more deeply, I could see bars over all of the windows, and guards patrolling the walls and gates a lot more frequently than they would have for a normal mansion.
"Okayy," I mumbled. "That’s one fancy prison."
"Don’t let the exterior fool you," Jeremiah said. "The conditions inside are completely different."
"Well then," I smiled, leading him and Erick into an alleyway. "Let’s get your mother out of there."
"Darkness cover us, shadows conceal us, so none may know our presence," I whispered the incantation of my shadow concealment spell.
An incantation that was actually completely unnecessary.
But it still sounded hella cool though.
