How I Accidentally Built a Kingdom

Chapter 103 - Ignore Sarcasm, And Everyone Agrees With You

"Let’s go," I said, already starting to move toward the gate.

I couldn’t help but smile at how close Jeremiah stuck to me, apparently he thought that he needed to stay as close as possible for the concealment to work.

We came to a stop again in front of the large gates. I looked at the two guards who stood on each side of them. It wasn’t going to be nearly as simple as when I infiltrated Charles’ palace.

There I could simply bend open the gate and walk through.

In this case the probability of the guards noticing the gates bending open and then neatly bending closed again, was pretty high.

So I did the next best thing.

Right in front of the gate I opened a portal that would simply teleport us just to the other side.

Before opening the portal I did however make sure that it would be concealed as well.

I’m not an idiot after all.

I didn’t think a massive iridescent portal opening and then closing randomly would go unnoticed.

The moment the portal opened in front of us, I could practically feel Jeremiah stiffen up next to me.

Ignoring him completely, Erick and I simply stepped through.

"...You’re sure this is safe?" Jeremiah asked.

Erick didn’t even bother answering.

Since neither of us had stopped walking, Jeremiah let out a quiet curse, squeezed his eyes shut, and hurried after us.

A split second later, we appeared right on the other side of the gate.

"You can open your eyes again," I smiled at Jeremiah, who was standing next to us with his eyes forced shut. "You’re already outside again."

I watched him with a smile as he slowly, almost frightfully, opened his eyes again.

The moment his eyes were open, he found himself in front of the door of the prison, which was only a couple of hundred feet from the gate.

The man looked like a shocked and bewildered animal, his head snapping around trying to take in all of his sudden new surroundings at once.

"I can’t believe this," he mumbled. "You can actually teleport."

"Uhhh yeah," I said. "Our entire plan kind of depends on that, so I wouldn’t lie to you about it."

"I know that," Jeremiah said. "It’s just... still hard to believe."

"It’s not that cool," I shrugged.

Obviously I was just trying to act humble, I knew it was amazing.

It’s me after all, everything I do tends to be amazing.

"Anyway, do you know where exactly your mother is being kept?" I asked, looking up at the massive building in front of us.

"Up there," Jeremiah answered, pointing up to the very top of the building.

I guess this is probably where I should describe the prison a bit more.

Previously I said that at first I just thought it was another massive mansion, well I think it’s better to call it... a small castle.

Like I said, the building was only just smaller than the palace Charles lived in.

The main building stood on a piece of land that would probably cover almost a small city block. It stood six stories high, and by the amount of windows, I could see that there were a significant amount of rooms.

Basically it looked like a big ass apartment complex that wasn’t just built upward.

I hope that makes it a bit easier for you to picture it, although I’m thinking all of the Earth references might not really help in this case.

Anyway, attached to the main building, as I suspect all castles must have, was a tower.

And it was to the very top of this tower that Jeremiah was pointing at that moment.

"Of course she is," I sighed.

"Why is it that men always imprison women in towers?" I asked.

"I always thought that just happened during the rule of a certain king from a certain country that just did it to get rid of his wives." I mumbled, trying to think of a way for us to get up there.

You might be thinking that we could simply... walk.

Which might have worked, if we could get into the main building, but the doors were locked tightly.

"If I was Julie, I would probably have just kicked this door in and walked up the stairs," I mumbled. "Then just take out anyone that gets in my way."

Jeremiah’s gaze snapped to me when he heard those words.

"We could probably do that," Erick shrugged, which caused Jeremiah’s gaze to snap toward him.

"I don’t think that’s a good idea," he finally said.

"I think you’re right," I nodded, which caused him to release a sigh of relief. "What would be the fun in that? I like to be a bit more... subtle."

"Yeah right," Erick said, clearly being very sarcastic about it, but I simply ignored the sarcastic bit.

One thing I’ve learned over my two lives, if you ignore sarcasm, everyone always agrees with you.

I looked up at the tower again, there seemed to be only one window, heavily barred of course.

"I think I have an idea," I smiled.

"Shit... not that smile again," Erick muttered, for some reason sounding pretty nervous. "What are you thinking?"

"You’ll see," I said, immediately casting anti gravity around him and Jeremiah.

The moment their feet left the ground, both of them started to scramble around, and curse like some very experienced sailors.

Which only made me laugh.

"Calm down, it’s not like you’re going to float away," I laughed. "Gravity just doesn’t have any effect on you anymore, which means that you won’t fall."

"You could have warned us!" Erick yelled in anger, although no one could look threatening if they’re spinning around in the air with no control.

Jeremiah had been struggling so much at that point that he had somehow ended up upside down.

I laughingly opened up another portal to right outside the window, grabbed Erick and Jeremiah by their collars, and walked through the portal.

As soon as I took the last step forward, I cast anti-gravity on myself as well, which meant that as soon as we came out of the portal, we were all floating in the air. The momentum of my last step carried us forward until we crashed against the bars in front of the window.

"You’ll need to hold on to me!" I exclaimed over the wind, quickly grabbing the bars to keep me in place. "Unless of course you want to be blown away by the wind!"

As soon as they heard those words, both of them grabbed onto my coat so hard their knuckles turned white.

Which of course made me roar with laughter again.

Seriously, I found that entire trip pretty fun.

I grabbed hold of two of the bars, and pulled my hands apart with all my strength. The two bars bent apart like two pieces of clay, which surprised the beautiful brunette middle aged lady on the other side quite a bit.

I pulled myself through the gap in the bars I had just created, trying to float forward as slowly as possible, although I think it would have been funny to see how Erick and Jeremiah crashed into the sides of the tower, at that time I thought that maybe I had made them suffer enough.

The moment we were all in the room, I canceled all of my spells, which caused three men to suddenly appear in front of the lady.

Two of which crashed to the ground in some very awkward positions.

The third, me of course, standing between them pointing and laughing.

"You should see yourselves right now," I laughed at them. "We should do this more often, Erick."

"I’m never doing that again," Erick growled up at me with a pale face, doing everything in his power to keep from puking.

"I agree," Jeremiah said from my other side.

"Oh come on, that was fun," I laughed.

"Jer... Jeremiah?" The lady standing in front of us with wide eyes asked.

"Hi, mom," Jeremiah smiled, finally standing again on wobbly legs.
