Chapter 127-Ends one way
Nytherael went feral. He bit through one of Theren’s serpent heads. Completely through, fiercely and unapologetically. Blood flooded the chamber.
The remaining snake heads shrieked in horror. Nytherael no longer cared who they were. Friend... comrade... sister... none of it mattered anymore.
Not after Rhysandor fell by their hands, not after they came after Sseraphis with the intentions to kill him. They came and dangled hope before them only to explode into betrayal.
The underwater palace trembled violently as the nine-tailed fox unleashed every ounce of grief, rage and heartbreak buried inside his soul.
And for the first time in countless years, every beast present finally understood why ancient records described a grieving nine-tailed fox as a disaster capable of ending kingdoms.
He was unstoppable. He wanted them all to pay in blood the way Rhysandor did. In his mind, he could only see that room at the flying ship, with Rhysandor showing up carrying baskets of food and wine.
Their heart to heart conversation. The way his friend had smiled at him and welcomed him back to a world that held nothing but hatred for him. In a world that blamed him, he was the only one who never held any grievance towards him, supported him and cheered him up when he needed it.
Accepting that Rhysandor was gone from his world was not acceptable. Nytherael tore through the beasts without mercy.
Sensing the battle was senseless and her brother was going to kill her, Nerezza retreated by teleporting out of the underwater palace.
Theren saw her leave and copied the idea, he grabbed the beast next to him without confirming who they were and teleported out, wounded and in critical condition. He had no clue that he grabbed Zeyron.
Left behind, Samahita glanced at Nytherael and shed a silent tear, she knew, Sheana would never forgive her. She turned to leave, before she could, Nytherael’s final attack hit her back, pierced through her meridians and snapped her beast core, shattering it to pieces.
Samahita was sent flying through the portal she opened and landed on the other side, she coughed out blood.
She lifted her pale fingers to her heart and felt it...her beast was destroyed, shattered and killed. ’No... No...’ she fainted.
In Ocov, Fairy Zarathia shook her head. After watching the scene from a far she was disappointed. The beasts made a deal with Hadrian and went to the underwater palace to kill Sseraphis to stop their visions from coming true and that seemed to be fate’s plan as they ended up activating those fates themselves.
"Future knowledge isn’t supposed to exist in present times. It usually triggers events to happen sooner rather than later."
The one who wanted to save her husband from dying ended up killing him herself, the one who wanted to stop herself from losing her beast lost it that very day, the ones who didn’t want to end up together were now running away together. It was ironic and tragic.
Fairy Zarathia turned turned on her heels and retreated to her room. "A deal with the devil only ever ends one way."
In the underwater palace, Nytherael finally calmed down after they left. He shifted back to his human form and fainted from shock and exhaustion.
Aeltharion managed to gather Rhysandor’s soul into his ancestral red pearl flame necklace.
Jura immediately checked on his internal wounds and fed him a pill before stabilizing the chambers and fixing the broken walls.
Aeltharion folded a fist and all the water that entered the chamber evaporated. He rushed to Nytherael, knelt down to his sleeping frame and sighed.
His heart heavy with grief. Burdened with the chaos that played out. "How is our luck so bad? Why does every bad thing only happen to us?" He asked, brushing the hairs clinging to Nytherael’s face.
"Rhysandor is one of the good ones. I promise you... I’ll do whatever it takes to bring him back to you. We’ll save him."
He lifted Nytherael off the ground. His heavy feet carried to the opposite side of the bed where he laid Nytherael next to Sseraphis.
It was the first time that Nytherael and Sseraphis had fallen at the same time. He couldn’t understand what sins they were punished for that their punishments were endless.
"We defeat a demon today only to encounter the devil the next day," he sighed harder. "What nightmares are these?"
"It is indeed tragic," Jura said as he froze Rhysandor’s body over to preserve it to give room to save him in the future. "The universe seems to be against you."
As the room finally settled down. Yiwa stepped inside with Tivnir’s assistance.
"Master Jura?" Yiwa called out weakly.
Jura looked up, his eyebrows knitted together as he spotted them. "You shouldn’t be out of your cocoon yet," he said.
"That..."
"Come quickly, let me check your pulse," he urged.
Tivnir helped him forward until where Jura was. Jura took his pulse and checked his health. His eyes opened wide and sparked with surprise.
Despite hatching early, Yiwa was not only healthy, he was in perfect form. His wings were repaired, the veiled butterfly was back to his original form and also seemed capable of growing stronger than before.
"I am impressed. You’re in perfect health."
"Really, master?" Tivnir asked before Yiwa could.
"Yes."
"I am healed?" Yiwa was relieved, the torture he endured in the name of cure was enough to send his soul to the afterlife with no means of return.
"I prescribe a lot of rest. You need to get back your strength," Jura added.
"We were startled by the chaos. Once things calmed down, we came to check what was going on," Tivnir reported, he looked around and was stunned with the sight.
Yiwa was equally shaken. His master was lying unconscious on the bed, next to him master Sseraphis was no better and on the floor, Rhysandor lay frozen with a big hole in his chest.
"What happened?"
He was heartbroken by the scene before him. Those beasts were close to him, he had served them closely. To see them hurt while he was away and unable to do anything was even more crashing.
"Beasts attacked," Jura summed it up.
Drained from the eventful night, he immediately excused himself. Even the candy he’d been having was gone, he needed to find more.
He released himself from Tivnir’s arms and walked up to the bed to Nytherael. He lowered his weak body to sit and held Nytherael’s hand.
"Kindness was the first we met when your hand reached for mine while I... was drowning," he admitted, "I am sorry that I wasn’t here for you when you needed me. I’ll be kinder to you going forward."
