Conflux System: I Can Merge Anything

Chapter 200: Knock And The Devil Answers

When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed they are not it.

Zane and the others were searching peacefully.

During that, Zane went inside one of the rooms that was upstairs and there he found Tesla.

The merchant was also searching but it seemed he hadn’t started so when he saw Zane, he gave up and decided to search somewhere else.

Zane didn’t stop the man as two people searching one room wasn’t a good use of manpower.

But as Tesla reached the door of the room to leave it, he stopped.

Zane frowned.

He asked him what happened and Tesla turned around.

Zane saw the worry filled face of the man and became tense as well.

He asked again what was the case but instead of answering the main thing Tesla said some people were coming.

Zane didn’t get it.

"Wha-How do you kno-"

But before he could finish his words...

KNOCK!

Someone knocked on Horum’s house.

His heart skipped a beat.

He left the room and looked at the people searching downstairs.

All of them were looking at Zane as well.

Xavier opened his mouth but Zane gestured to him to stay quiet.

He called all of them upstairs and fortunately they still had their burning clothes.

No one wasted time and with silent steps they reached the room where Zane was.

"What do we do?" Draxus asked.

"First put out the fire." Zane said.

They obliged.

Some people asked about the reason but Zane didn’t have the time to explain.

If the people outside barged in and saw light, it would be a problem.

Though, Hena and Jammy understood and they told Draxus and Xavier the answer.

In no time, they put out the fire in their clothes.

"Now what?" Draxus asked again.

He first ordered them to hide their weapons and they did.

"Now what?" Draxus asked the same thing.

Zane ran his mind.

He opened and closed his fists in repetitive motions.

"The people outside. Why are they knocking? Why aren’t they barging in? Did the Wardens tell them that someone else also entered before them? Did Leon send them? Do they think that the people inside are one of their own? Should we hide or should we open the door and act like the Simmers? Too many questions."

Zane talked to himself and everyone else also used their brain to find something out.

"Wait." Hena spoke. "Why are they knocking?"

"I just asked that." Zane barked.

Hena shook her head. "No. You can only open the door, right? You didn’t lock it. Yes, you twisted the knob after entering but with one twist the door would open. So why are they knocking?"

"Yes. Right. Why aren’t they entering?" Zane agreed with Hena. She had a point.

"I think the Wardens told them that those who entered were rich and since you opened the door in a way that didn’t appear as if you were trespassing, the Wardens might have also told them that those who entered had a key to the house with them. And now they are thinking we are one of them so they are knocking." Jammy shared his thoughts.

"But what if the Wardens told them nothing? They didn’t say anything to us when we entered. What makes you believe they would have said anything to the ones who are knocking right now?" Draxus argued.

KNOCK!

KNOCK!

The knocking intensified.

The people on the outside also didn’t speak anything for Zane to know what they knew.

Nothing was helping him.

"The Wardens might have said something." Hena said.

"Why?" Everyone asked.

All of them were whispering and they were only talking without seeing each other.

Hena might be looking at Xavier thinking she was talking to Zane.

Nevertheless, Hena answered them.

"The wardens are responsible for the safety of the city. So if they saw two groups or people entering the same house back to back, they would find it suspicious and for sure they would talk about it to the visitors. So there is a high chance that the knocking ones know we are inside and are one of them."

Zane clenched his jaw.

"If we waste time we are only making it worse."

"So?" Jammy asked.

Zane paused for a second.

He thought deeply but due to the lack of time, he was forced to make a decision.

And he did.

"We answer the door."

Gasps rang out but only for a tiny moment as they had no other choice.

Yes, they could simply ignore the knock and hide inside the house but if the wardens had really told the visitors about them then hiding would only make their situation worse.

Also, since the door wasn’t locked the visitors were probably sure that the people who were inside hadn’t left.

The best choice was really what Zane had proposed.

They had no option but to agree to that.

"Alright." They said in unison.

Zane nodded.

"Let’s go. And no lights. Darkness would be our cover. We have masks on but in darkness they won’t be able to see it. We will not talk in our real voice. Modify it. Speak no more than necessary. Our goal is to make them leave.

If Leon sent them to confirm whether Zane Atlas was looking for Horum or not, we will say we are looking for it too. We are also with Leon. We are the Simmers family. Scepters. I don’t know what I am missing but try not to talk. I will handle it. Understood?"

"Yes."

Everyone affirmed and Zane finally left the room.

But before leaving, he tapped Tesla on the shoulder. He couldn’t see the man but he did it with his intuition and guess.

His guess turned out to be correct as Tesla got the message and walked in front of Zane.

Zane lightly placed his hand on Tesla’s shoulder and walked with the merchant.

He was the only who could see and Zane wanted to take no risk in the dark. An injury was the last thing he wanted at the moment.

Eventually, he came downstairs and after leaving Zane in front of the door, Tesla stepped to the side.

No one could see anything and since Zane had eyes in the form of Tesla, he was the fastest one to reach the door.

Whereas Xavier and the others were still slowly climbing down the stairs.

However, Zane whispered to Tesla to bring them here as well and Tesla did the same.

He helped them reach the door faster and due to the tension, no one really paid attention to how the man was able to help them in the dark.

Anyway, now the whole team was in front of the door and Zane wasted no time.

He held the knob, twisted it and finally opened the door.
